Carly & Jess are the duo behind Onyx & Ivy—designers, dreamers, and unapologetic advocates. Together, they create bold, witty pieces that spark conversation, spread joy, and inspire change.
Jess
Co-Owner
Jess is the heart-on-her-sleeve half of Onyx & Ivy — the emotional extrovert who thrives on connection. With a degree in Interior Design, she brings a trained eye for detail, colour, and form into every project. She’s also a mom of three incredible kids and wife to the reason the family now calls Calgary home. Between family life and business, Jess has discovered a passion for art, tattoos, and finding ways to make a house full of complex needs run with love, laughter, and a bit of chaos.
Carly
Co-Owner
Carly is the grounded half of Onyx & Ivy — the steady, unshakable presence who balances Jess’s whirlwind energy. With a degree in Interior Decorating, Carly has always had a love for aesthetics and function, now channelled into digital art and bold design. She’s a proud dog mom to Winnie the cavapoo, with a soft spot for tea, tattoos, and a stack of good books. Tough, thoughtful, and endlessly creative, Carly brings the strength and sharpness that makes Onyx & Ivy’s vision complete.
Core Beliefs Matter
We’re Jess and Carly — the duo behind Onyx & Ivy. Though we’re not related by blood, we’ve been family for longer than we can count. We’re makers at heart — from hand-drawn artwork to repeatable patterns, from bold statement apparel to everyday accessories, every piece is designed in-house with intention. Our collections are playful and witty, but always grounded in purpose: standing up for what matters.
We’re complete opposites: Jess is the emotional extrovert, Carly is the tough-as-nails introvert with zero FOMO. But our differences balance each other perfectly. What unites us are our shared values: a belief in human rights, inclusivity, and using our voices — and our art — to spark change.
What started as a creative outlet quickly became a movement: a way to give back to the community, support marginalized voices, and create bold, unapologetic designs with purpose.
We’re proud to be Canadian-owned, to show up in our local community, and to create designs that travel far beyond Calgary markets.
